Case 01
Motion Sonic Project
Designing the Future of Body-Experience Sharing Media
Role: Lead UX Designer / Future Experience Designer
Context: Sony Internal Startup — Vision Design Phase
Focus: Future Experience Vision, HCI, Media Design, Design-driven PoC
Overview
Motion Sonic explores a new form of media that enables people to experience another person’s bodily experience as their own through sound.
Building on Sony’s legacy of media innovation—from broadcasting sound to carrying sound—I proposed the next evolution: a medium that shares human bodily experience itself.
I led the definition and validation of this future experience vision through research-driven, publicly exposed PoCs.
Challenge
-
No existing product category or evaluation framework
-
Abstract experience that could not be judged through documents or metrics
-
Executives needed to experience the idea to evaluate it
Key Question
"How might we can share other one's experience as if your own?"
Vision
Embodied Sound Media
I designed and suggested "A medium for sharing bodily experience” for futur experience vision in Sony.
Research revealed that empathy and ownership emerge not from realism, but from: "abstraction", "imagination", and "body-coupled interaction. I defined an experience principle: Abstract another person’s experience and couple it to the user’s own body movement. Sound became the core medium due to its emotional and embodied nature.
Research & Insights
User research:
Imagination creates stronger reality than literal representation
Abstract art:
Encourages personal projection
Early VR:
Presence driven by body synchronization, not resolution
